Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
Those of you who own a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone now have one more reason to rejoice, as fring, the popular VoIP/multiple IM network client, is reported to be available for your S60 Touch handsets as well.
According to fring, the work on the new version of the application started as soon as the Finnish mobile phone maker announced the availability of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, as there was a large number of users who asked on fring forums, Twitter and Facebook pages for the app to become available for the device.
One important feature of the S60 5th Edition application is the fact that it has been enhanced to take full advantage of the touch capabilities of the 5800 XpressMusic handset, this being able to leverage the user experience of anyone fond of fring. It should provide easy access to ICQ, Windows Live, Google Talk, or Yahoo! Messenger, as well as to Facebook, Last.fm or Twitter.
Users are able to employ either their fingers or a stylus to use the application on the touch device. At the same time, it seems that the functionality of fring hasn't been changed, which means that users will be able to keep in touch with their buddies on multiple IM networks, while also being enabled to make Skype phone calls, no matter their location, directly from the mobile phone.
For sure there are a lot of fring enthusiasts that also own a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, and it seems that their day to be happy has come. On the other hand, we should also note that this is not the first touch device to feature the application, as fring has been reported about two weeks ago to come preloaded with Samsung's Omnia HD device.
The new version of fring is available for download from Softpedia as well; just hit this link to get it. Those of you who would like to see the application at work should take a look at the video below.

Did you notice the launch of the 5228 yesterday ? Hopefully you did, but did you pay it much attention? I suspect that in the rush to cover more exotic devices announced in San Francisco, that the geek circles will have skipped over what could easily be labelled as “yet another 5800 variant”.
